President emphasises early adoption of healthy habits to prevent NCDs

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has stated that adopting healthy habits from a young age is crucial to preventing non-communicable diseases (NCDs). He made the remarks in a post on his official X account to mark World Diabetes Day.
In his message, the President highlighted the need to remain mindful of one’s health, covering diet, physical activity, and daily routines, while underscoring the importance of cultivating discipline to avoid harmful habits. He also expressed his appreciation to non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and individuals for their continued efforts in raising public awareness on these critical issues.
President Dr Muizzu concluded by calling for renewed commitment to nation-building and achieving a prosperous future, urging Maldivians to remain a healthy population, free from preventable diseases.
First Lady Sajidha Mohamed shared a complementary message on her X account, noting that building a healthy society in the Maldives can only be achieved through collective effort. She encouraged citizens to seek information on maintaining good health and to incorporate healthy habits into their daily lives.
The First Lady concluded her message by expressing hope that, through collective effort, the Maldives can become a nation least affected by NCDs such as diabetes, while establishing itself as one of the leading countries in providing reliable care to those living with such conditions.
