Development spending quadrupled over the past two years: Minister Jihad

Finance Minister Abdullah Jihad has stated that over the past two years the Government’s development projects had quadrupled over the past two years.
He made the statement speaking in VTV’s Fasmanzaru program Monday night. Minister Jihad said that in 2013, the Government spent MVR 600
million, while in 2014 MVR 1.7 billion was spent. He added that it was expected that this figure will rise to MVR 2.5 billion and this is a figure that is quadruple the amount that was invested in 2013.
He added that the Government was working to bring in more sources of income for further investment and development. Minister Jihad stressed
that a country rating was essential to bring in more investment and that to create a country rating a nation needed peace and stability. “I urge all citizens to remain in solidarity with the President in his five year term. Give him opportunity to work for the public. This will bring success,” Jihad said.
