Home Minister Umar Naseer has stated that the state of emergency was declared so that the security forces can have easy access to searching residences and vehicles, without cumbersome procedures such court orders.
He said that during this period the security forces will enter residences if the need arises. Minister Umar appealed the public to lend their support during this period. He added that the planned protest of November 6th, organized by MDP, will have to be halted.
Minister Umar said that the rally would have to be cancelled due to the security concerns posed by a large crowd. He also said that in the event an attack was given to the protest, the resultant losses will be insurmountable. He added that the responsibility of the government was to ensure that the citizens were protected from any security threats.
Minister Umar said that the state of emergency was declared only as the last resort, in spite of the potential losses.
