Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) Managing Director and CEO Ibrahim Shareef has said the greatest satisfaction in opening Velana International Airport’s (VIA) new terminal is that it will be operated entirely by Maldivians.
Speaking on TV Maldives’ Heyanbo program, Shareef described the new terminal as a transformative milestone for the country’s economy and a historic achievement for MACL. He emphasized that extensive preparations had been undertaken to ensure seamless operations when the terminal opens on July 26.
“Eight months prior, we engaged an international airport consultancy to assist with operations and training programs. Today, I am proud to say our staff are fully trained to manage this state-of-the-art terminal. It gives me immense pride that 100% of the workforce serving at this facility will be Maldivians, especially our youth. God willing, our future is very bright,” Shareef said.
He added that this milestone reflects not only a significant achievement for MACL but also serves as a model for other institutions nationwide.
