Bad weather expected to last through Tuesday next week

The bad weather conditions affecting the Maldives are expected to last until at least Tuesday next week, according to the national weather agency.
The Maldives has been experiencing widespread rain, strong winds and rough seas since last week – attributed by the Maldives Meteorological Service to the strengthening of the Southwest Monsoon, locally known as the Hulhangu Monsoon.
The weather agency forecasts scattered showers with few heavy showers and thunderstorms across the country on Tuesday.
The agency forecasts southwest/westerly winds at 10 – 20 miles per hour. Winds may gust to 35 miles per hour during showers.
Seas are expected to be moderate becoming rough during showers, with waves of 3 - 6 feet.
The weather agency has issued a white alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms with gusts of 40 miles per hour for the area from N. Atoll to F. Atoll for at least until 05:00 pm.
