The Minister of Tourism, Mr Ali Waheed is to promote the cultural tourism of the Maldives in India on the coming Friday.
After the Dubai Intercontinental Cup, the Minister stated that he intends to promote tourism in the Maldives in all avenues. As such, the Ministry intends to invite the Male’, Addu, and Fuvahmulah City Council Mayors, as well as the Kulhuhdhoofushi City Council President along for the trip.
The two-day trip would be spent at the Times of India Ceremony.
The Minister further stated that during this presidency, the emphasis would be given to promote tourism in the atolls of the Maldives. The intent is to develop every region of the Maldives as a special, one of a kind destination.
The councillors are going on the trip to be more involved in the decision-making process when it comes to the promotion of their specific regions. They will also be meeting with business tycoons of India on this trip.
India is a country which has a large, potential market for tourism in the Maldives. Hence, it is crucial to promote the Maldives in India in order to increase the potential Indian tourists coming in.
By the end of this year, the government aims to bring about 1.5 million tourists to the Maldives.
