Islamic Minister Dr. Ziyad Bagir has said that there were many activities carried out against Islam and called on all to be wary of such activities.
He made the statement speaking in the ceremony held to mark the 53rd anniversary of Dhivehi Raajjeyg Adu and the launching of the religious channel of PSM.
Minister Bagir said that on average three books against Islam were published daily according to statistics. He added that in America alone 50 books against Islam is published every month.
“There is a marked rise in Anti-Islamic messages in global media,” he said.
Minister Ziyad said that the Maldivian Constriction states that only truth and facts are broadcast on public media. Therefore, Maldivian media has to adhere to this, especially when it involves Islam and Islamic values.
“I call on all channels not to spread messages that contradict the message of Islam. This is a responsibility on every Muslim, protecting Islam,” he said.
He said that views and opinions against Islam were spread in the country, in a bid to create confusion and eradicate Islam. Minister assured that the Ministry will fully assist the channel.
