Atoll Championship 2025/2026: Kulhudhuffushi Starts Strong After Defeating Nellaidhoo

Team Kulhudhuffushi got off to a strong start today in the North Region Zone match of the “BML Atoll Championship 2025/2026,” a newly launched tournament organized by the Football Association of Maldives (FAM), by defeating Nellaidhoo. In the match held at the Kulhudhuffushi Zone Stadium, Team Kulhudhuffushi secured the victory today by defeating the Nellaidhoo team with a score of 4-2. The first goal of the match was scored by Kulhudhuffushi player Shifan in the 12th minute. Team Kulhudhuffushi then scored two more goals in the 17th and 38th minutes, taking the lead in the match. In the second half, Kulhudhuffushi scored their 4th goal in the 51st minute, which was Shifan’s second goal of the day. The remaining two goals for Team Nellaidhoo were scored by Ismail Waheed in the 56th minute, and by the team’s captain, Mohamed Nishah, from a penalty in the 86th minute. The match, which marked the start of the tournament, was graced by Minister at the President’s Office, Abdulla Nasir. Also in attendance were FAM President Ahmed Thoriq, the association’s Senior Vice President Ali Ibrahim, Vice President Mujuthaba Jaleel, Kulhudhuffushi City Mayor Mohamed Athif, two City Council members, and BML Director of Properties and Administration Hassan Sham. This tournament is an important initiative by FAM to promote football in the atolls of the Maldives and provide opportunities for players from the islands. The tournament is being conducted by dividing the atolls of the Maldives into three regional zones, with a total of 47 teams participating. In the North Region Zone of this tournament, four islands from Hdh. Atoll and two islands from Ha. Atoll are participating.
