The Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of France to the Maldives, His Excellency Rémi Lambert, presented his Letter of Credence to His Excellency President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at a ceremony held this morning at the President’s Office.
The Ambassador was escorted in a traditional 'Haiykolhu' cultural procession, accompanied by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.
The President accepted the Letter of Credence and formally welcomed His Excellency Rémi Lambert as the Ambassador of the Republic of France to the Maldives.
Following the ceremony, the President and the Ambassador held discussions on areas of mutual interest, including tourism, maritime cooperation, marine protection and climate change, as well as security and stability. Both the President and the Ambassador reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening and sustaining the enduring relationship between the two nations.
Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and France were established on 20 May 1969.
