Health Minister Irthisham Adam has opened the Indian Health Expo 2016.
After the opening, Minister Irthisham visited some of the stalls in the Exhibition and enquired on their services. Nineteen exhibitors from India are taking part in the Expo.
The Expo is sponsored by STO and will be open for public daily from 3pm to 10pm. Information sessions will be held for visitors to the stalls during Expo hours. Additionally, participants inform that discounted bookings will be made available for visitors.
Speaking in the opening ceremony, Indian High Commissioner Akhilesh Sharma said that India was one of the countries with a thriving medical tourism sector. He added that visitors from even the most developed nations were visiting India for treatment.
Mishra added that even though the Maldives was a small nation, the country had made significant progress in the health sector. He praised the work carried out by the Government for the development of the sector.
Mishra further said that it was extremely vital that both India and the Maldives cooperated in areas of mutual development and benefit.
Minister Irthisham thanked the Indian Government for the continued assistance to the country’s health sector provided by the Indian Government. She especially noted the special focus Mishra gave to the sector, noting that it was remarkable given that Mishra was appointed to the position a few weeks back.
