PSM’s third MD in two years gets transferred out

Ibrahim Nasreen (Nattu) – who was appointed in December as Public Service Media (PSM)’s third managing director in two years – has been transferred out of the state broadcasting station and appointed to another government post.
Sun has been informed that Nasreen was appointed to a senior post at the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information and Art. However, the exact post is unclear at this time.
Nasreen confirmed to Sun on Saturday that he had resigned from PSM, but did not provide a reason for his deicison.
Nasreen had replaced Mohamed Saeed, who stepped down as the head of the state broadcaster on December 18 after a short five-month tenure without specifying a reason.
Saeed’s predecessor, Zeena Zahir’s tenure had also been short-lived. Appointed as the PSM’s managing director in November 2023, Zeena resigned on August 23, 2024.
She did not specify a reason for her resignation either.
Nasreen, whose tenure as the head of PSM lasted 11 months, spent two stints at the PSM totaling over 20 years.
He holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in service innovation from the College of Innovation at Thammasat University (CITU) and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Limkokwing. He is currently studying for his PhD.
