Will be able to train 700 pharmacists by 2 years: Education Minister

Education Minister Dr. Aishath Shiham said that the Ministry will be able to train 700 pharmacists required for the pharmacies opened by STO all across the country in the next two years.
She made the statement speaking at the graduation ceremony of the pharmacists training program held in Dharubaaruge Sunday night. 401 completed the program and Education Ministry added that 130 of those are currently employed various parts of the country.
Minister Shiham said that if the students had to pay for the course, each student will have to pay MVR 60,000. However, she said that the maximum amount students had incurred was MVR 3,000, noting that the program was run with the assistance of STO and Tivet. She further said the amount was a figure that was 20 times lower.
Minister added that the course was run efficiently and effectively due to the emphasis President Yameen placed on using technology for such training. She added that President Yameen placed emphasis on conducting programs that netted long term benefits, adding that he was a result oriented leader.
The course was conducted online, with the course materials dispatched to students beforehand. Students were then assigned to a pharmacist to get on site job training. All participants had completed the program while staying in their islands.
The participants thanked Tivet for launching such a program for future pharmacists and STO for facilitating studies from their islands.
President Yameen attended the graduation and took photos with the graduates.
