Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim has called on all to reduce the dependency on oil and to limit the use of oil.
He made the statement speaking in the launch the AC ferry services by MTCC between Male’ and Hulhumale’.
Thoriq said that oil usage for transportation accounted for the second highest oil consumption, urging to reduce dependency on it. He added that in addition to increased expenditure, the amount of greenhouse gases will also increase, thereby increasing the damage to the environment.
He said that now measures have been placed to generate clean energy sources, appealing all to make the best of the facilities available.
Thoriq added that MTCC was exemplary company in many aspects and urged the company to take the lead on this initiative as well. He congratulated the company on the remarkable achievements by the company in transportation sector, especially in the past two years.
