Environment Ministry Thoriq Ibrahim has called on all to anticipate and analyze electricity needs.
He made the statement speaking in the Forum held with energy companies in Environment Ministry today.
Thoriq said that the Government had assured continued electricity supply, therefore, anticipation and analyzing energy needs was imperative. He said that even though energy needs have been clearly anticipated, the electricity needs of every island is ever changing.
“We have to place clear measures to monitor the development of islands, a system for monitoring,” he said.
Minister Thoriq stressed that anticipation of energy needs was vital, in order to fulfill the Government’s pledge of 24 hour electricity. He also added that the nation was heavily reliant and susceptible to the fluctuations of oil prices in the global markets. Therefore, he said that managing oil dependence was also key.
