A fire broke out at a café in Male’ City on Saturday, resulting in burn injuries to a migrant worker.
The fire, which broke out at the Hotel al-Zaika near the ADK Hospital in the Henveiru district of the capital, was reported to the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) Fire and Rescue Service at around 12:44 pm.

Firefighters from the Male’ Fire Station were immediately deployed to the location, and managed to put out the fire at around 01:00 pm.
Photos shared by the MNDF show the fire originated from the café’s kitchen.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has said the incident resulted in minor burns to the leg of a migrant worker.

The cause of the fire remains unclear at this point.
The café fire marks the second such incident reported from Male’ on Saturday. It comes after a fire broke out at around 04:11 am at an abandoned building located in the Maafannu district.

The incident did not result in any injuries.
