Defense Minister Adam Shareef Umar stated that jews and certain nations were still working to extend their influence in the Maldives.
Speaking to press in Coast Guard building on Thursday, this was exacerbated by political influences on the Government. He added that this was also further exacerbated by the fact that Maldives was a fully Islamic nation.
Minister Adam Shareef further said there were many who had attempted to portray Maldives as a hot bed for extremist and hardline views.
“We are working on the religious extremists, radicalized individuals, those who transgress social, political norms. We want to focus on counselling for those individuals, rehabilitation and the legal measures that need to be followed,” he said.
Minister Adam Shareef added the related initiatives to this project will be carried out with Police and the Army.
