Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) has conducted a medical camp for prisoners and detainees at Asseyri Prison.
The camp was organised in collaboration with Hulhumale’ Hospital. Specialist doctors involved in the camp included an internal medicine doctor, an orthopaedic specialist and general surgeon. A total of 41 prisoners and detainees received medical consultations during the camp.
The camp aimed to provide specialist healthcare for inmates who require specialist referrals. MCS is working with external health providers to treat conditions that cannot be managed inside prisons.
Similar medical camps are expected to be held in the future.
